Eric Rhoades most recently was the Secondary Science Educational Specialist for Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) in Virginia. His responsibilities included leadership development for administrators and teachers, professional learning and coaching teachers, curriculum design and development, and program creation and planning. Eric focuses on the implementation of best practices taking in consideration effective organizational behavior theory.
Prior to serving in HCPS, Eric served in roles such as Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Richmond Public Schools, Director for Science and Health Education for the Virginia Department of Education, and the Director for the Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement at George Mason University, as well as serving as a middle and high school science teacher.
Eric has a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. His 30 years in education serving in varying roles and organizations has afforded him the opportunity to have a unique perspective. This experience also allowed him to develop tools and resources to support a range of educators from classroom teachers to division leaders.
Skip Tyler most recently retired after 31 years in public education as the High School Mathematics Educational Specialist for Henrico County Public Schools in VA. His responsibilities included supporting mathematics instruction and providing professional development and coaching for administrators and teachers in his district. Impacting over 25,000 students, Skip worked to ensure that best practices are being utilized, monitored, and reinforced in all classrooms.
He earned a BS in Mathematics with an Art minor from Virginia Tech and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech. In addition, Skip is a National Board Certified Teacher endorsed in Adolescent and Young Adult Mathematics. He has presented on mathematics instruction at the national, state, and local level and is actively involved in leadership positions in his state and regional mathematical organizations.
As a high school math teacher for over 18 years, his passion was teaching Algebra 1. Skip was selected as the Teacher of the Year for his school, district, and region and was a finalist for Virginia’s Teacher of the Year. His experience as a successful classroom teacher and administrator during his 31-year career in public education provides him with a toolkit of effective instructional best practices that are focused on student understanding and comprehension.

Terra is currently an Exceptional Education Coordinator in Henrico County. She has spent 20 years as a special education classroom teacher at both the elementary and high school levels. Her passion is supporting educators in growing their understanding of Special Education principles and regulations. In her free time, she is an avid sports fan and can be found cheering on her son at his many sports activities.
Melissa Bills is a National Board Certified Teacher that has spent 17+ years specializing in middle science as a teacher, department leader, curriculum writer, and currently as secondary science coach with Henrico County Public Schools.   Throughout these roles she has implemented high-quality instructional design through various research-based strategies such as UBD, visual learning, and the 5E model. She has facilitated the collaboration of school teams in designing, delivering, and assessing authentic inquiry driven learning experiences. Her ability to build trusting relationships with diverse teams has led to the growth, success, and upskilling of stakeholders. As a member of various VDOE assessment committees, she is accomplished in alignment of rigor and content and well-versed with old and new item types. Melissa has a passion to support and build capacity in science teachers, as they directly impact student learning. When she isn’t chasing around her tiny humans, she enjoys spending time with family & friends, traveling, and watching documentaries while eating sushi.
Sarah has worked in a variety of special education settings as a teacher and a leader. In her current role as secondary Special Education Coordinator, she works with her general education counterparts to design high quality professional learning for special education and general education teachers. She is passionate about designing high quality instruction for all students and providing teachers with the tools they need in order to do this. She works hard to demystify specially designed instruction and help teachers develop plans for implementation.
Vickie Bohidar has more than 20 years of experience in education, having worked as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, a building level math specialist, an instructional technology integrator and a division math coach. She currently works as the Educational Specialist for Elementary Mathematics for Henrico County Public Schools. Vickie is involved in the mathematics community at the local, state and national level. She has served as the president of the Greater Richmond Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has served on several committees for the VDOE.  Vickie is passionate about student engagement in mathematics through the use of hands-on activities, classroom discourse, and performance tasks.
Judy Christopher has over 30 years of experience in education and was most recently the Educational Specialist for Elementary Science for Henrico County Public Schools. By leveraging her combined experience as an elementary classroom teacher, a staff development instructor and a curriculum specialist, she is able to effectively coach and support both teachers and administrators in best practices for elementary science.
Judy has pioneered interactive technologies and supported district wide implementation of learning management systems and assessment platforms. She has created and delivered professional learning on many topics including student driven inquiry, Total Participation Techniques, components of Visible Learning, Project WILD, tiered vocabulary, scientific discourse, performance tasks, and scientific and engineering practices,
Judy’s passion is helping teachers make science instruction accessible and meaningful for all students. She believes that by engaging students in authentic experiences and hands-on science, they will solidify understanding of concepts, transfer of knowledge and make connections between their observations and the world outside of the classroom.
In her free time, Judy enjoys camping, boating, water skiing, traveling and spending quality time with family!!
Jennifer Coleman has 22 years of education experience as an elementary school teacher and division math coach. She currently works as a professional learning and leadership coordinator for Henrico County Public Schools where she provides professional development for administrators, coaches, and teachers, creates professional learning opportunities, and works with teachers and coaches. Jennifer is involved in the educational leadership and mathematics community at the local, state and national level. She has presented at numerous conferences, served as a member on various VDOE committees, and has served as the president of the Greater Richmond Council of Teachers of Mathematics. During her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time on or near the water with her husband and dogs.
Candice R. Henry is a high school science educator with over 19 years of experience. She was most recently honored as the 2022-2023 District Teacher of the Year for Atlanta Public Schools. As a classroom teacher, department chair, and Lead New Teacher Mentor, she has successfully worked diligently to maximize student mastery and teacher productivity; as well as target instructional content and pedagogical deficits in order to coach, support, and improve teacher efficacy. Her educational passions include getting high school students excited about science and reading. She has worked as a curriculum writer, curriculum and assessment evaluator, research assistant, and fellow for programs at APS, Emory University, Morehouse College, Georgia Tech, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She holds a B.S. in Biology from Spelman College, a M.S. in Behavioral Science and Health Education from Emory University and is currently enrolled in and Ed.D. in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. During her free time, she enjoys being an Auntie, playing tennis, reading voraciously, singing and playing the organ at church.
Asmahan Jackson has more than 15 years of experience in education, having worked as an elementary and middle school classroom teacher, a building level Title I math specialist, and an Elementary Assistant Principal. She currently works as an Administrative Math Coordinator for Elementary Mathematics for Prince William County Public Schools. Asmahan is involved in the mathematics community at the local, state and national level. She serves as conference co-chair of the Battlefields of Northern Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics and has served on several committees for the VDOE.  Asmahan is passionate about student engagement in mathematics through the use of hands-on manipulatives, classroom discourse, and performance tasks. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Teresa Lee is currently works as an educational consultant and adjunct faculty member in special education and educational leadership. She currently serves as a Strategic Instruction Model Professional Developer through the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning and an Educator in Residence for the Office of Special Education Progress Center in which she supports and reviews the development of Center products, includes tip sheets, modules, and instructional briefs. Dr. Teresa Lee served as Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Education in Special Education Instructional Services and Specialist for students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit Disorder. She was responsible for providing guidance, professional development, and technical assistance to schools and parents in the areas of eligibility and identification, IEP development and the implementation of instructional practices, including research-based multi-sensory structured literacy, high leveraged practices, content enhancement and instructional strategies. She facilitated training in specially designed instruction, served as chair for indicator 5/LRE with a focus on inclusive practices and developed activities to support recruitment and retention of special education teachers. Dr. Lee has also served as a teacher, elementary assistant principal, middle principal, and Assistant Professor of Administration and Supervision.
Laurie is a literacy expert, trained in the Science of Reading, whose experience in education spans kindergarten through 12th grade. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked as a classroom teacher, department chair, elementary and high school literacy specialist, a division-level literacy coach and school transformation partner in several Central Virginia school divisions. Her work has included creating and providing professional development at the school, division, and state levels as well as nationally and abroad. In addition to professional development, Laurie has extensive experience in curriculum design, coaching, and data analysis for administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals.
Laurie earned a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Radford University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Virginia with a concentration in Reading Education. She is a certified K-12 Reading Specialist and holds a teaching endorsement in English.
Laurie resides in Chesterfield, VA with her husband and chocolate lab, Bella.
Kathryn Munson has more than 25 years of education experience as an elementary school teacher and division math coach. She currently works as an Elementary Math Coach for Henrico County Public Schools, where she provides professional development for administrators and teachers, creates curriculum resources and assessments, and coaches teachers to achieve academic success. Kathryn is involved in the mathematics community at the local, state and national level, and has served as the president of the Greater Richmond Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She has been a member of numerous committees for the Virginia Department of Education and facilitated several VDOE institutes throughout the state. Kathryn enjoys spending time with her family and walking her dog, Pablo.
Lynn Smith recently retired from public education, with 37 years of experience as a special education teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, and in division and school-level administrator positions. She served as an educational specialist for ELA at the elementary and K-12 level, and then served in an elementary school as an associate principal. Retirement allowed Lynn to return to her true love, teaching. Lynn is currently a 6th grade English teacher at The New Community School, an independent school for students with dyslexia and other neurodiversities. Lynn has a passion for helping students see themselves and their world through books. She inspires writers through the use of mentor text and showing students the power of their words and the value of their stories.
