
Lynne Bland
Lynne Bland is the Secondary Social Studies Curriculum Specialist for Chesterfield County Public Schools. Her responsibilities include professional learning and coaching for teachers and administrators, curriculum design and development, and maintaining digital resources for teachers. Lynne is also an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Richmond where she teaches Content Area Literacy for Secondary and Elementary Social Studies Methods.
Lynne’s approach to curriculum and instruction practices is grounded in disciplinary literacy which entails reading, writing, thinking and doing like an historian. She is a proponent of using the researched based practices seen in the Visible Learning framework. Lynne has a B.S. in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, an M.Ed. in Reading Education from the University of Virginia, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum Leadership from the College of William and Mary. Her 35 years in public school education include 16 years teaching secondary social studies and 19 years supporting best practices in curriculum and instruction as a school division leader.
