
Jennifer Brown
Jen Brown has over 26 years of experience as an educator and currently serves as an Educational Specialist for Elementary Social Studies in Fairfax County Public Schools. She has previously taught special education, general education (upper elementary grades), and was a teacher leader, coach, and cooperating teacher for novice teachers.
Jen earned a Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Pittsburgh, was a National Board Certified Teacher (2008-2018), and holds an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) from the University of Virginia in Educational Administration and Supervision. Jen has served as a Teacher Intern Supervisor with the University of Virginia Curry School of Education and has been a consultant with the Virginia Department of Education serving on various curriculum, assessment, and professional development committees.
Jen is a dedicated, innovative educator who believes that by leveraging shared expertise through collaboration, professional learning and research-based practices, she can truly make a difference in designing a social studies curriculum that empowers teachers and elevates student voice through inquiry and authentic, meaningful learning experiences. She is passionate about building teacher capacity through professional learning and believes that all students can and should engage in the critical thinking skills needed to be informed, active, empathetic, positive contributors to their local, state, national, and global communities.
Jen is an avid reader, coffee drinker, beach lover, and cat mom!
