Writing Seeds: Building Writing Stamina and the Skills for Revision

Description:

This session introduces educators to the Writing Seeds process – a low-pressure, high-impact strategy that helps students generate ideas, experiment with voice, and take creative risks. By focusing on content over perfection, Writing Seeds encourage students to produce meaningful drafts that can evolve into polished pieces over time. Participants will explore real classroom examples, observe the growth of student writing across the school year, and engage in a live Writing Seeds experience they can immediately bring back to their own classrooms.

This increased enthusiasm leads to a greater volume of writing, which in turn strengthens fluency, stamina, and confidence. At the school level, classrooms reflect a more vibrant and participatory learning culture, where writing is used not just for assessment but for exploration and connection. District-wide, this momentum supports a shared vision for literacy growth, elevating writing outcomes and reinforcing the value of student voice across grade levels and content areas.
